Tofu Hamburg 豆腐ハンバーグ

Tofu Hamburg 豆腐ハンバーグ
Tofu Hamburg is a Japanese-style hamburger steak made with tofu and ground chicken for a light, healthy twist on the classic Japanese Hamburg steak. It’s tender, flavorful, and already perfectly seasoned—no soy sauce needed! Great for dinner or as a delicious addition to your bento box!
Ingredients
Method
- Cut a medium firm tofu block in half. Wrap the tofu in a paper towel. Place something heavy on it, and leave it for 10 minutes or so.

- Finely chop 1/2 a small onion.
- Squeeze as much excess water from the tofu block as possible.

- Add 1/2 pound of ground chicken to the onion and tofu in a bowl. Add 1/4 tsp of salt and pepper, 1 tbsp each of soy sauce and mayonnaise, 3/4 tsp of sugar, and 1/2 tbsp of miso. Mix together well.

- Make 2 patties.
- Heat frying pan on medium high heat and add oil. Gently press the center of each patty, and add them to the pan. Let cook for 3 minutes.

- Flip the patties when the bottom gets nicely browned. Cook the other side for 2 minutes. Cover with a lid, lower heat, and cook for 3 more minutes. It's ready! We hope you enjoy your "TOKYO FLAVORS, NEW YORK STYLE" meal! Itadakimasu!

Notes
You can use chicken thigh or breast—both work well, so choose your favorite!
Don’t forget to press out the excess water from the tofu. If you skip this, the patties might not hold together well.
Make it colorful and appetizing by serving with fresh veggies like tomato, cucumber, and lettuce on the side.
