A New Chapter: Food, New York & Starting Something New新しいチャプター: 食、ニューヨーク、そして新たな挑戦
I recently had the pleasure of joining a conversation for Aging with Grace and Purpose, where I had the opportunity to look back on my journey—from growing up in Tokyo and working in fashion, to building a life and career in New York, and now beginning a completely new adventure with TOKYO FLAVORS, NEW YORK STYLE.
When I started my YouTube channel, I simply wanted to share the Japanese home cooking I know and love, especially recipes that people can easily make with ingredients available in North America. But starting something new also reminded me that curiosity and creativity don’t have an expiration date.
During the interview, we talked about my years in the fashion industry, studying at FIT while working full-time, writing about fashion and food, my life in New York, and what eventually inspired me to step in front of a camera and start a YouTube channel.
We also talked about something that has become increasingly meaningful to me: aging with grace and purpose.
For me, growing older doesn’t mean becoming less curious about the world. There are still new things to learn, new people to meet, new foods to discover—and even completely new adventures to begin.
Starting TOKYO FLAVORS, NEW YORK STYLE has certainly been one of mine.
I hope you’ll enjoy this conversation and perhaps be inspired to begin a new chapter of your own, whatever that may be.
